The Dota 2 developers have finally made Faceless Void’s Time Zone facet good after years of improving it. But the facet is for Faceless Void as an Offlane initiator, not a Position 1 carry. So, Let’s break it down: For starters, in 7.38, the developers reworked Time Zone in two forms: 1. Time Zone no longer increases or decreases attack speed for allies and enemies. It now accelerates ally ability and item cooldowns by 4 times and freezes the enemy’s, locking them out. 2. Time Zone accelerates and decelerates casting and projectile speed of abilities and ranged attacks. This is on top of Faceless Void’s innate ability, Distortion Field, also reducing enemy attack projectiles. In summary, Time Zone is now perfect for spell-casting allies. Heroes like Queen of Pain, Invoker, Puck and Leshrac work well with Time Zone because the ability lets them spam their damaging spells. But, Faceless Void’s Time Zone can also work with ranged carry heroes like Nature’s Prophet and Terrorblade since it also accelerates their projectile attack and movement speed. In 7.38, Faceless Void’s Time Dilation was buffed. The ability can be re-casted to create a stacking damaging debuff that extends enemy ability cooldowns, slows their attack and movement speed. Time Dilation combos well with his ultimate ability where he can cast two Time Dilation abilities within the Time Zone’s duration. On top of that, Time Dilation does not tick down its duration while inside Time Zone. So we’re seeing Faceless Void deal a lot of damage and disables even after Time Zone has run out with the power of Time Dilation. Don’t forget that Time Dilation scales crazy well early on: increasing its DPS at level 10 as well as the slow per cooldown at level 15. So obviously his skill build revolves around maxing Time Dilation second, after Time Walk, because your laning is stage can be difficult. In short, Faceless Void as an Offlaner is the opposite of Faceless Void as a carry. He wants to fight early with his Time Zone and massive Time Dilation stacking damaging debuff to secure big fights for his aggressive rotating mid-laning spellcasters. While the hero doesn’t need many items to be a strong initiator, his laning stage and farming is a challenge to overcome. If you can get through that and keep tempo with your team, Faceless Void with Time Zone is a menace as the ultimate goes through Black King Bar With items like Heaven’s Halberd and Aghs Scepter and Time Zone’s accelerated cooldown for items and abilities, Faceless Void has a lot of presence, disable and damage that is unmatched by most other Offlaning initiators. As a final tip: be mindful that you want to use time-zone when your team and the enemy team are near or within the AoE. If you are initiating onto enemies with Time Zone and your team still needs to catch up, you’re throwing away a perfectly good initiating ability. This is why heroes like Queen of Pain or those with Blink Dagger can be great as they close the gap to reach your time-zone comfortably as you focus on initiating or even counter-initiating with it. 0:00 Faceless Void with Time Zone in the Offlane You can find me on Twitter for thoughts, opinions and news: / tortedelini You can chat with me about Dota on Discord: / discord Bio: Torte de Lini is a popular Dota 2 Builds & Guides Creator.
