Would an Afterlife Defeat Idealism? Reaction to Bernardo Kastrup

In this episode, I respond to Bernardo Kastrup and his video “The Greatest Challenge to Bernardo’s Naturalism.” If the afterlife were true, would that defeat idealism? Or does idealism actually transcend naturalism altogether? I argue that idealism is not merely a spiritualized version of naturalism. Rather, it reframes the entire discussion: nature belongs to mind — but mind does not belong to nature. Mind is not just “everything.” Even the concept of “everything” is already a construct within mind. Mind cannot be defined because it is what makes definition possible. It cannot be identified with anything because it is the source of identity itself. Yes, that sounds paradoxical — but that may be precisely the point. Could the human brain function as a filter of a deeper, transpersonal mind? Could this model reconcile idealism, naturalism, and even the possibility of an afterlife?
