We spent the day exploring Kamakura, one of Japan’s most popular coastal towns just an hour south of Tokyo. Known for its temples, shrines, beaches, and the iconic Great Buddha, Kamakura is a favorite day-trip destination for both locals and tourists. Our route: 🚋 Rode the Enoden train to Kamakurakōkō-Mae Station, famous for its oceanfront views (and its cameo in anime!). 🌊 Walked to Inamuragasaki, a seaside spot with stunning panoramas of Sagami Bay. 🍡 Ended the day at Komachi Dori, Kamakura’s bustling shopping street lined with local snacks, souvenirs, and cafes. Traveling here with kids under 4? We’ll be honest, not the most exciting adventure. Tiring, yes haha. But the views and atmosphere? Absolutely beautiful. If you’re planning a trip to Kamakura, here’s a peek at what to expect — especially if you’re bringing little ones along! Tips for Families Visiting Kamakura: 🚋 The Enoden train is scenic but can get very crowded — avoid rush hours if you have kids. 👶 Consider a baby carrier instead of a stroller 🍡 Komachi Dori has plenty of kid-friendly food, we loved the sausages at Kamaham Plus 🕐 Plan for a shorter trip — between nap times and crowds, a half-day visit is usually enough with little ones.
