Barrow Patient Controls Robotic Arm with Thought in CONVOY Study

With the PRIME Study, patients with quadriplegia due to spinal cord injury (SCI) and ALS underwent neurosurgery at Barrow Neurological Institute to receive the N1 Implant from Neuralink and explore how it could help restore their digital autonomy. Now, the CONVOY feasibility trial is taking this research a step further, with an emphasis on helping restore patients’ physical freedom. Alex Conley, who has a cervical SCI, was the second patient to receive the N1 Implant at Barrow and overall. He is the first person to use the device to control an assistive robotic arm.
