Waalcrossing Nijmegen 79 years 1944-2023 reenactment / Operation Market Garden World War II

From 15-17 september 2023 we commemorated 79 years Waalcrossing. During this weekend, we re-enacted this crossing in memory with 180 men, including men from the 504 Parachute Infantry Regiment and 307 Airborne Engineers Battalion. Colonel Schuerger was also present and addressed the men afterwards. Together we reflected on the brave men from the US 82nd Airborne Division, led by Major Julian Cook, who took this heroic action as part of Operation Market Garden and risked their lives for freedom. Together with 42 organizations, we managed to build a WW2 camp and a complete educational program. More than 400 schoolchildren learned more about the Waalcrossing and Operation Market Garden and thousands of visitors of every age visited the event. A special weekend to remember those who fought for our freedom in the Second World War and gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom nowadays.
