Takatso deal with SAA: Khaya Sithole

Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan yesterday told the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) that the South African Airways (SAA) deal with the Takatso Consortium, which is the government's chosen partner, "remains alive". The minister could not divulge much on the details of the deal and told Scopa that it was at a "sensitive" stage, which prevents him from sharing the finer details. Meanwhile, the resignation of Gidon Novick from the consortium's board on Monday raised concerns. Novick cited concerns about the consortium's ability to raise enough money needed for the deal. Novick, who is a former co-CEO of kulula.com and co-founder of LIFT, is said to have been a suitable board member who brought the requisite skills and expertise to the board.
