Paul van Meurs was a class teacher for 22 years. He then worked for 20 years as a senior education advisor. Now, he supports teachers in providing art in education and education as art. In this way, he helps teachers and teams shape Waldorf education. For many years, he conducted the blackboard drawing course during the beloved Waldorf Teacher Week in The Netherlands. He has done extensive research into didactics, materials, and techniques in drawing and painting education. "In my world of colours and shapes, Stockmar crayons play a key role. These crayons are far more than just a material to me - they carry my ideas and vision. With their rich colours and composition, they make it easy to bring my ideas to life. But most of all, they’re simply a pleasure to work with! Stockmar creates products with a special focus on the senses. Colour harmony is central to this. The famous colour theory of Goethe forms the foundation for Stockmar’s balanced colour spectrum, which encompasses the entire rainbow - based on the primary colours blue, red, and yellow, and their secondary mixtures: orange, green, and violet. This harmony allows me to work with a cohesive colour palette that brings vibrancy and depth to my work. The careful composition of Stockmar crayons greatly supports my creative process. The crayons are made from a blend of high-quality microcrystalline wax (e.g., paraffin), plant-based wax, natural beeswax, and pigments. The addition of around 10% beeswax gives the crayons a pleasant scent and a slight transparency, which not only preserves their colour intensity but even enhances it. Using more beeswax would alter the drawing experience and place an unnecessary burden on this precious natural resource.
