When a Veteran receives a decision from the VA regarding their benefits claim, they have the option to appeal that decision. Under the old system that existed prior to February 19, 2019, the Veteran had to file a Notice of Disagreement and elect to either go directly to the Board of Veteran's Appeals or with a Decision Review Officer. For decisions issued after February 19, 2019, the Veteran has three different "lanes" they can use to appeal. The one I talk about today is the Supplemental Claim. The Supplemental Claim process allows the veteran to submit new evidence or information that was not considered in the original decision. The VA will review the new evidence and issue a new decision. The Supplemental Claims Process is intended to be a quicker and more efficient way for veterans to appeal a decision than the traditional appeals process, which can be lengthy and complex. However, it is important for veterans to ensure that they submit all relevant evidence with their initial claim, to minimize the need for appeals or supplemental claims. +1 443-846-0740 600 Washington Avenue, Suite 201, Towson, MD 21204 [email protected] #vadisability #veterans Facebook / andrewpgrossattorneyatlaw Twitter / apgrosslaw LinkedIn / law-office-of-andrew-p-gross-llc
