Part two of this documentary series, Tropilaelaps Identification: A Practical Guide for Beekeepers, is a detailed guide to visual identification and monitoring methods for Tropilaelpas mites in Western honey bees. Monitoring methods covered include alcohol wash, sugar shake, sticky boards, the bump test, brood uncapping, and eDNA. The Tropilaelaps mite is a parasite with the potential to infest honey bee colonies worldwide, causing significant damage and threatening the sustainability of beekeeping. In this film, researchers and apiary inspectors offer practical insights for beekeeping communities globally.
