A Short walk in the historic town of Westport, Co. Mayo, my hometown! | December 2025

Westport, Co. Mayo is not the "youngest" town in Ireland, but being only a little over 250 years old means it's definitely not one that's been around a long time! Having being voted both the tidiest town in Ireland for several years, and the best place to live in Ireland, it certainly has reasons to enjoy the place. I grew up here, and even though I have some pretty fond memories of the place, I'm not sure if I agree that it's the best place to live! Join us on this dreary and cold day in December as we take a walk around the town, and I tell you some of the history I know about the town, as well as a few stories from my childhood. Just a shame that Westport House itself is closed over the winter, or it would have been a lovely spot to end the video on.
