In today’s video I’m reacting to Jake Munro’s video “What happened to women?” — where he breaks down why, in many Western countries today, women tend to vote more left than men, while men trend more right. He cites research and graphs showing measurable gender differences in political preferences and how various psychological and social factors tie into this pattern. Here’s what the research actually shows: Women, on average, tend to report more left-leaning political preferences than men in large surveys across multiple countries. This isn’t just anecdote — meta-analysis across tens of thousands of respondents found that women, on average, lean a lot more toward the left than men do. One broad explanation is that women tend to express more communal traits — such as compassion and empathy — which historically correlate with support for redistributive or egalitarian policies. There is also evidence that biological factors like testosterone may influence political leanings, at least in some experimental contexts. One study found that administering testosterone to weakly affiliated Democrats nudged their reported preferences somewhat toward Republican candidates. Social role expectations likely play a part too: women are generally socialized to be more caring and community-oriented, while men are more agentic and competitive, which can translate into different political priorities. So what’s really going on politically? It’s normal to see gender differences in political views and voting — men and women both have reasons for where they align. But here’s the part I want to talk about: Why many women on the left today actively promote policies that hurt societal stability — for example, open-borders policies or virtue-signaling stances that disregard crime or economic realities — is something we should question, not just accept. Support for “compassion” doesn’t have to mean supporting policies that weaken a country’s ability to protect its citizens. Why the left exploits women’s empathy and communal instincts for political leverage — political parties know that women are more likely to lean left on issues framed as “helping others,” and they market emotional appeals precisely to tap into that, even when long-term outcomes might not serve those same voters’ interests. Why men and women need honest political discourse instead of emotional manipulation. Real problems like rising crime, economic stagnation, or challenges faced by families require clear-headed solutions, not emotional reactions.
