I'll fix it next time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to today's video where you saw the renovation of the old Banker's Lamp. Table lamps are a must in any household. It is a practical helper that looks good and saves our eyes. And who invented the practical assistant? The Banker's Lamp was an American invention, originally designed for use in banking halls. The first patent for a lamp was filed on May 11, 1909 by the American engineer Harrison D. McFaddin. The original design of the lamp was very simple. The lamp had a brass base that held a shade of green over white glass. This original glass shade was custom made at the Shreiber & Neffen factory in Rapotín, Moravia, today's Czech Republic. The lamps were made in America and assembled at the McFaddin factory in New York and originally sold under the Emeralite brand. The size of the lamp was such that it provided enough light while leaving enough space on the table. The lampshade was made so that it could be tilted up and down to direct the light. In 1929, a patent was filed for a British version of the Banker's Lamp that had a brass shade or reflector instead of a glass shade. HG Mc-Faddin & Co. was sold in 1960. The original lamps from before the Second World War are still a sought-after antique piece. And that's it for today, thanks for watching.
