Take a walk with me on Venice Beach in Los Angeles! See all kinds of wildlife and weirdlife. It has a similar vibe to Camden Market in London, just with added sunshine and homeless people. Medicinal marijuana is popular here and you'll smell it before you see it. Walking the beach is absolutely free but parking definitely isn't! There are $10 car parks dotted around. There's one on Dell Avenue for example. Or you can try for a free spot on Washington Way or near Abbot Kinney Blvd. There's a heavy police presence on the beachfront, and it's generally a bad idea to be in the area after dark. Venice Beach has many many food outlets, but very few provide seating. Don't miss the $5 Freakshow if you've not been before. It isn't spectacular but worth a look. See sword swallowing, fire breathing and stunts with electricity. Bodybuilders at Muscle Beach will pose for shots for a dollar or two.
