I've recorded several Scott Joplin rags before, but this work is slightly different. It's a collaboration between Joplin and his young protégé Arthur Marshall. It's also a cakewalk, though others have noted that it sounds more like a rag. Max Morath wrote that when performing a cakewalk or slow drag, one can embellish the melody with frills and ornaments, which I've done here. I think the organ is well suited to playing Joplin, as foot pedals provide more control over the bass line than a left pinky does on the piano.
