Welcome new viewers and returning subscribers! I have another throwback live performance for you today. For my graduating voice recital ('14), I wanted to showcase as many of the languages* I was able to sing as I could in my repertoire - especially Portuguese, being my second spoken language. Finding an acceptable piece for this recital was a bit of a challenge though, and we were fortunate that friend helped introduce me to this Portuguese opera written by Alfredo Keil, also the writer of the Portuguese national anthem. This aria had its own challenges, having many time signature changes (almost every measure), and only finding one audio reference to listen to, but it was rewarding to get to perform a Portuguese aria. I really hope you enjoy this "throwback Thursday" piece from my graduating year; And as always, thank you for listening! *For those wondering, my recital repertoire featured the following languages: English, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, and Japanese. I wish I had fit a Latin piece in, and have also since performed in Czech, Swahili and Spanish.
