In 1999, I independently produced Still Running…, a documentary about the single-wing football formation. I first became aware of the single-wing offense as a youth football player, trying to defend the unstoppable Twin Town Tigers. Hailed by critics as a “slice of Americana,” the film explores the history, strategy, and enduring legacy of the single wing—one of the earliest and most influential offensive schemes in American football. The documentary traces its origins with pioneers like Glenn “Pop” Warner, explains how the direct-snap formation once dominated the gridiron, and shows why, despite fading from mainstream play, dedicated coaches and teams continue to keep it alive today. Through interviews, archival footage, and on-field demonstrations, Still Running… celebrates the innovation, grit, and timeless appeal of this unconventional approach to the game.
