Factors Shifting Oxygen Hemoglobin Dissociation Curve

Explore our entire animation video library at: https://www.nonstopneuron.com/ All videos from respiratory physiology: https://www.nonstopneuron.com/post/ph... Video Summary: It's recommended that you watch the first video on oxygen hemoglobin dissociation curve before starting this video. All the basic are covered in that video. In this video we are focusing on the shift in oxygen hemoglobin dissociation curve. This video is in two parts. First I have mentioned how the binding of oxygen with hemoglobin is affected with shift in the curve. Here I have avoided siting any examples. Then in second part, we will see factors that shift the curve. Here we have increased temperature, carbon dioxide, hydrogen ion and 2,3 DPG which shift the curve to left. Shift in curve to right by increased carbon dioxide and hydrogen is also called Bohr's effect. It helps deliver more oxygen to tissues. 2,3 DPG level is increased in hypoxia and it helps in adaptation to it. Carbon monoxide shifts the curve to left. It increases affinity of hemoglobin so much that hemoglobin don't release oxygen at peripheral sites, depriving the tissue of oxygen. 🎞More videos on Respiratory Physiology: ● Transport of Gases Oxygen Hemoglobin Dissociation Curve:    • Oxygen Hemoglobin Dissociation Curve   Factors Shifting Oxygen Hemoglobin Dissociation Curve:    • Factors Shifting Oxygen Hemoglobin Di...   Oxygen Hemoglobin Dissociation Curve during Exercise:    • Oxygen Hemoglobin Dissociation Curve ...   Transport Of Carbon Dioxide:    • Transport of Carbon Dioxide in blood   Carbon Dioxide Dissociation Curve:    • Carbon Dioxide Dissociation Curve   Haldane Effect:    • Haldane Effect in Transport of Carbon...   ● Lung Mechanics Alveolar Pressure and Pleural Pressure:    • Alveolar Pressure and Pleural Pressure   Surface Tension in Lung Alveoli:    • Surface Tension in Lung Alveoli   Surfactants Mechanism of Action:    • Surfactants Mechanism of Action   Functions of Surfactants:    • Functions of Surfactants in Alveoli   Compliance of Lungs:    • Compliance of Lungs   Diseases Affecting Lung Compliance:    • Diseases Affecting Lung Compliance   • Ventilation & Dead Spaces in Respiratory Tract:    • Ventilation & Dead Spaces in Respirat...   • Lung Volumes and Capacities:    • Lung volumes and capacities   • What Determines Lung Volume?:    • What Determines Lung Volume?   00:00 Introduction 00:21 What a shift means 02:38 Factors shifting the curve ● Follow me at: • Facebook:   / nonstopneuron   • Instagram:   / nonstopneuron   DISCLAIMER: This video is for education purpose only.
