A traditional banjo piece from the Hammons family of West Virginia curated by the banjoist and folk historian Dwight Diller, played on a concert banjo ukulele in clawhammer style. My old banjo buddy Ray Banks has reminded me the tune actually refers to the waterfalls on the James River, but somewhere in the seeds of time I must have forgotten this. In my defence the tune seems lonesome and poignant so fits well with the Civil War event... Tuned to Fm tuning fCFAb, pitch lowered to 95% concert pitch. Full printable TAB and downloadable audio files for all my music are on my patreon site.. / the_ukulele_club To support my future video creation please consider joining me on patreon. All members can also access monthly personal evaluations of their own playing videos.. Richmond, Virginia, was the capital of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. In April 1865 the Confederate government realised the siege was almost over and abandoned the city lest they be captured. The retreating Confederates chose to burn military supplies rather than let them fall into Union hands and the resulting fire destroyed much of Richmond. #clawhammer #clawhammerukulele #ukulele #oldtime #hammonsfamily
