In this detailed first-look review, Cole from MACkite shares his on-the-water impressions of the new gear from FLITElab, a brand that’s been generating buzz on social media. Cole starts by breaking down the board design, noting that all FLITElab boards follow a consistent shape with a few standout features. The board’s wide nose allows for a wide hand placement, making pop-ups easier and more stable. That added volume also improves paddle efficiency. On the tail, a subtle concave provides comfort and control for the back foot. The boards are available in sizes ranging from 4’0” to 4’6”, offering options for various rider sizes and preferences. Cole then dives into the foil itself, which he describes as feeling like a best-of blend from other leading foils. It pumps nearly as well as an F-One Eagle but really shines in its carving ability—likened to the feel of a skateboard. It’s not as efficient for pure downwind pumping as some specialty wings, but it more than makes up for that in the surf. It offers smooth, predictable carving, excellent return-to-center stability, and forgiving wingtip handling with minimal cavitation. The upcoming wing lineup includes sizes from 707 to 1010, while tail wings will be available in 125, 140, and 160 sizes. A particularly noteworthy innovation from FLITElab is in the front wing-to-fuselage connection. Unlike traditional setups that can become loose over time, FLITElab uses a tension-based system to hold the wing in place. This design ensures a consistently tight and secure fit even with wear, giving the setup a rock-solid feel. Cole also highlights the mast as one of the thinnest and stiffest on the market, delivering direct power transfer from foot to foil with no flex or lag, which improves both pumping efficiency and responsiveness. Finally, Cole praises the overall accessibility of the gear. FLITElab’s board and foil setup worked well across a range of rider abilities—from beginners to advanced—making it a strong option for progression without compromising performance. He closes by giving FLITElab credit for delivering a well-thought-out product line and encourages those interested to reach out to the MACkite team with any questions. #foilsurfing #foilsurf Thank you for sharing the kiteboarding and wing foiling stoke with us! 🤙🏽 Please join us in the comments section and get a conversation started.
