Athetoid cerebral palsy also known as ,dyskinetic cerebral palsy, is a type of the disability which is predominantly marked by involuntary movements. It is not as common as spastic cerebral palsy, but not as rare as ataxic or mixed CP. Athetoid/ Dyskinetic cerebral palsy is because of  damage to the basal ganglia in the brain. The basal ganglia help to coordinate and control body movements. Damage to basal ganglia causes involuntary and abnormal movements.
