Georgia's first words define the better part of her life and work in quilting; “Artistry at the folk level has been expressed in quilts as vividly as any other form of American decorative art.” In this, the very first episode that was broadcast in the fall of 1978 Georgia introduces the idea of lap quilting or "quilt as you go" and the overall purpose of the series; to teach people how to make the quilt they have always wanted to make. Here she teaches block Identification and the basic requirements for quilting. In it's debut season of 1978 & 1979, seamstress and housewife Georgia Bonesteel took the handicraft world by storm when she introduced her simple techniques for quilting first to audiences in North Carolina on her home state public television system of UNCTV, and then across the country as the program became popular and was broadcast nationwide. With the first series Georgia launches an adventure for herself and her audience that spans another 30 years of TV production, including hundreds of quilts, fun guests and distant travels. But in the first series she stays in the UNC-TV studios teaching the very basics with her mid-western folk charm and an inspirational attitude. ***Please note the book offer at the conclusion of the program is no longer available!
