Dr. Fatemeh Keshavarz, Director of the Roshan Institute for Persian Studies at University of Maryland, discusses a chapter from her new book, "Lyrics of Life: Sa'di on Love, Cosmopolitanism and Care of the Self." This talk explores the complex poetic persona of the Persian mystic poet Sa’di (b. 1203) and the little explored aspect of his comedy, notably how this exploration of his humor may alter the interpretations and reinterpretations of his principled poetry.
