Edward T. Welburn The First African American To Lead A Global Automotive Design Organization

Edward T. Welburn is the first African American to lead an automotive design division and is a graduate of Howard University's College of Fine Arts. Welburn retired in July of 2016 after a 44-year career at General Motors. Many of GM's cars that you see on the streets today were inspired by Welburn's design, work, and vision. Welburn's design influence, as well as mastery, can be seen in the newer generations Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet Impala, Camaro, Corvette and other models in the General Motors product line.
