Tamron 200-400mm f/5.6 vs Nikon Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 -/+ Kenko 1.4x Pro 300 teleconverter

This is a non-scientist comparison between Tamron AF 200-400mm F/5.6 LD IF for Nikon (published 2000) vs Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR (published 2011) lenses. I also tested in the end of this slideshow these lenses with new Kenko 1.4x Teleplus Pro 300 teleconverter. The prices for the Tamron 200-400mm are today typically between $200-$300USD (used) and the Nikkor 55-300mm costs $350-$400USD (new). I tested Tamron with both f/5.6 and f/8 aperture and it seem to me that f/8 is sharper. Besides that I tested Tamron with max focal length and also with slightly shorter focal length and it seem to be true that this Tamron is not so sharp with full 400mm (or 560mm with the 1.4x teleconverter) if I compare it to 360-380mm (or 530mm with the 1.4x teleconverter). This comparison was not fully fair, because I must use manual focus with Tamron lens, because in this lens is not any focus motor and AF didn't work with my Nikon D3200 which doesn't have integrated focus motor. So if You want to AF to work with Your Nikon and this Tamron lens it should have a focus motor integrated into camera as like it is for example inside Nikon D7000 and D7100. Anyway I think it was quite easy to focus accurately also manually and did it by zooming the target first in the Nikon's screen to the max size and then adjust focus manually very carefully. The distance between me and the target was about 60meters (=196ft), though I didn't count it exactly and I bet it can be +/- 10meters. In my eyes it seem not to be any differences of the sharpness when using these lenses with or without the Kenko 1.4x teleconverter.
