Ahead of a two-month closure of the Sumner Tunnel, Boston is preparing for a surge in traffic as the roughly 39,000 cars that pass through the tunnel each day find alternative routes. To alleviate the congestion, the Mass. Dept of Transportation is encouraging drivers to use public transportation and has made both the Blue Line and the East Boston ferry free for riders during the shutdown. But MBTA slow zones, service cuts, and station infrastructure issues are doing little to ease commuters' frustrations and concerns. Mayor Michelle Wu and Boston Globe transportation reporter Taylor Dolven joined Abdallah Fayyad on the transportation problems plaguing Boston and the city’s efforts to fix them. Most child sexual abuse survivors don't come forward about their abuse until decades later, if at all. Massachusetts survivors had to file a civil lawsuit within 35 years of their abuse for their perpetrators to be held accountable. Now, a new bill before the Massachusetts Legislature aims to eliminate that statute of limitations on civil cases. State Senator Joan Lovely, who filed the bill, and Kathryn Robb, executive director of Child USAdvocacy, joined Abdallah to discuss the bill.
