Hi! Here I will show you how I get a somewhat decent Gilmour-like guitarsound, from albums like The Wall. You will have to excuse my sloppy playing, it was some time ago since I played these riffs.. Some sources claim that Gilmour actually has used the EHX Big Muff, and an older BOSS-compressor than I have here. I think the Big Muff on its own tends to be pretty much just bass and trebble, so I would recomend using a screamer-type pedal in front of it to boost the mids and get a little more warmth. Don't worry about the screamer cutting out too much bass, since the Big Muff is really heavy/big-sounding. The big but at the same time tight bass response in the Big Muff makes solos articulate well. To make the sound even better, I will use an EQ-pedal to smooth out the highs a little, and boost some low-mids, wich makes the sound a bit warmer/sweater. I will also throw in some chorus at the end since I know he uses it in some songs. The amp I'm Using is a Bugera Vintage V22 Infinium all-valve amp. The guitar is a Fender Player Series Stratocaster with a Floyd Rose. I used the singelcoil in the neckposition just as Gilmour often seems to do. I used a Canon 760D with an extran ROD-microphone for the recording. Sound and video has not been edited, this is the raw video.
