India’s First Home-Built Military Aircraft to Roll Out in 2026 | C-295 Made in Gujarat India is set to achieve a major milestone in defence manufacturing as its first private-sector military aircraft, the Airbus C-295, will roll out from Vadodara, Gujarat, in September 2026. The aircraft is being assembled through a strategic partnership between Tata Advanced Systems and Airbus Defence and Space. Under the ₹21,935 crore deal, a total of 56 C-295 transport aircraft are being inducted into the Indian Air Force. While 16 aircraft are being delivered from Spain, the remaining 40 will be manufactured in India, marking a significant step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. This project will generate thousands of jobs, enhance India’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities, and reduce dependence on imports. The C-295 will replace the ageing Avro aircraft and strengthen the Indian Air Force’s transport fleet.
