The Melancholy Sound Of A Failed Guitar Alternative | Hohner Guitaret

The Hohner Guitaret was by all accounts a failure. Designed for "heiße Rhythmen", "hot rhythms" to replace the guitar in jazz and dance bands of the 1960s, it never took hold. Not many of these lamellophones were made as a result, and even less survive. Nevertheless it found a cult following by musicians embracing its muted and melancholic tone.
