We found our beach destination in Mahahual, Mexico | Costa Maya

If you're like us and you're not a big fan of the crowds and congestion in Tulum, you will love Mahahual, located at about a 3 hour drive South. This little town sees tourists that mostly come down from cruise ships that dock there for the day. The locals will try to sell you all kinds of things when the tourists are in town and then everything will get back to quiet when the cruise ship leaves. Of course, the main attraction in Mahahual is its extraordinary beach with crystal clear blue water. The coast here boasts a coral reef ( Belize is not too far away ) so you can get a snorkelling tour with a good chance of seeing sea turtles. We drove to Mahahual for a day trip but it was enough to explore the malecon, the main attraction in this little town.
