Thousands of people gathered outside of the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul on April 5 to protest President Donald Trump and his adviser Elon Musk, who is the richest man in the world. The event was part of a national day of action with participation in more than 1,200 locations in all 50 states, including St. Paul, Rochester, Duluth and more in Minnesota. Demonstrators voiced anger over the administration’s moves to fire thousands of federal workers, close Social Security Administration field offices, effectively shutter entire agencies, deport immigrants, scale back protections for transgender people and cut funding for health programs. A Minnesota State Patrol spokesperson estimated approximately 25,000 people were at the state Capitol for the protest. Check mprnews.org for updates.
