Truk, Micronesia with DeepDive Diving Club. Intro

Chuuk Lagoon, also known as Truk Lagoon, is a sheltered body of water in the Micronesia, middle of mighty Pacific Ocean. During World War II, Japanese built here a military base. A large part of Japanese fleet was anchored here. Among of them battleships, airplane carriers, cruisers, destroyers, tanks, supply ships, gunboats, submarines. A lot of them now lying buried here, in the world's largest shipwreck cemetery, after ruthless 3-days attack of American bombers and fighters. Since 17th of Feb, 1944, some called the lagoon 'Japanese Pearl Harbor': about 45 ships and more then 200 planes were destroyed those days. The lagoon was flooded by oil, which killed fish and animals in surrounding waters and areas. Being cut off supply lines, run out of food, survived Japanese soldiers hunted and ate local people. They surrendered more then a year later, on 2nd September, 1945. After more then a year of preparation, our club finally heading to Micronesia to dive "the Ghost Fleet of Truk Lagoon"...
