KAKWA is an ethnic group (tribe) of South Sudan found in Yei Morobo and Kupera in Central Equatoria State (CES). kakwa in South Sudan has over the last two decades faced a lot of shocks and disasters caused by civil war, which made some members of kakwa community to move away from their ancestral land to seek for a better living condition such as education, employment opportunities, conducive business environment and other services. KAKWA people having a common ancestral bond in the soil and territory in the Republic of South Sudan. Those living in Juba whole heartedly and strongly came together and formed a body called KAKWA COMMUNITY and registered by the Ministry of Gender and Social Welfare of Central Equatoria State as Community-based Organization (CBO) in 2021 and its executive board elected on 29 February 2020, to strengthen UNITY, SOLIDARITY, MORALS, INTEGRITIES, and VALUES of the KAKWA People. The KAKWA CULTURAL FESTIVAL is a public event organize by KAKWA COMMUNITY in Juba, as well seeking for partnership with the National Ministry of Culture, Museums and National Heritage the State Ministry of Education CES and the United Nation Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for achieving the below three key objectives 1. To use culture as a tool to promote peace and social economic transformation 2. To educate the young generation about Kakwa Cultural Norms and reinforcing it's existence for the future generations 3. To bring forward Kakwa Culture to the spotlight and contribute towards the Nation building agenda.
