Ricky, along with Blondie Chaplin was a member of the Beach Boys in the early 70s. This cut is from a 5 track maxi-EP titles “Bop Girl” and was released in the US on Warners. The lead track, “Bop Girl” was one of the biggest Australian hits of 1983 and found a following in the US. LA’s mighty KROQ radio station ranked it #63 in their listing of the best songs of 1963; beating out REM’s “Radio Free Europe”, the Psychedelic Furs’ “Love My Way” and Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” among others. Co-producer and the song’s writer, Ross Wilson, was Pat’s husband and had been a member of the 70s group, Daddy Cool.
