The Settle and Carlisle Circular at a Damp Grey Appleby 21.02.26

Normally, I'd hesitate to travel a distance for a diesel hauled train but - at this time of year there's not much else on offer, so despite the poor weather forecast, I headed to Appleby to catch Statesman Rail's Settle & Carlisle Circular from Worcester, topped and tailed by D1935 and D1924. For a brief period around mid-day the sun appeared and I began to hope for some aerial filming but - the weathermen were right, the sun disappeared, the wind got up and there was a strong hint of rain in the air. This may be a memorable occasion for me - the last time I'll use my Panasonic camera which, as my regular followers know only too well, has been causing increasing problems with unwanted sounds. Yesterday I splashed out an alarming amount of money on a new (well - actually used, but new to me!) Sony body and lens. Hopefully, by next weekend I might have worked out how to operate it.
