Shangrila Resort Skardu | A Heaven on Earth

Skardu is one of the most scenic hill stations in Pakistan. It is also home to a number of scenic and jaw-dropping natural landscapes that makes it perfect for tourists. If you haven’t been to Shangrila Resort, you are missing out on one gem of a place. Shangrila Resort, also known as “Heaven on Earth”, is located around 18km away from the Skardu City. It encircles the beautiful heart shaped Kachura lake and is surrounded by fruits laden orchards and flower filled gardens. Shangrila resort offers 60 spacious and uniquely designed rooms with a cafeteria on the lake. Shangrilla resort was established in 1983 by the late Muhammad Aslam Khan Afridi, the first commander of the Northern Scouts of the Pakistan Army. Shangrila was named after a book titled Lost Horizon by James Hilton. In the novel, the author narrates a tale in which an airplane crash landed near a riverbed, in the early 1920s. The owner of the shangrila resort spotted an aircraft which had crashed in 1954. In 1983, he baught it for 150 Pakistani rupees from orient airways and built the resort around it. If you go at a little further height, you can witness a heart capturing view of the lower Kachura lake with clean blue water surrounded by scenic hills..
