(6 Mar 2022) The top U.S. military officer said on Sunday the U.S. "will continue to support the people of Ukraine to the extent that is humanly possible" and warned that America will defend NATO allies "if threatened and attacked by any foreign country." Gen. Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke during a visit to a military base in Lithuania. He is visiting Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, to pledge U.S. and NATO support to the three Baltic nations which were former Soviet republics that border Russia. Earlier in the day, when visiting an air base in Estonia, he praised Ukrainian soldiers and civilians alike for having put up an "extraordinarily courageous" fight since the Russian invasion.
