We shot this on Thursday, September 11th, roughly our fourth day in Nashville, but still very much my first time ever in TN. This was our 3rd shoot that day, and almost didn't happen. We had a camera malfunction the day before, and got rained out from our first location that morning and had to try and reschedule one session and cancel another session entirely. Spanning years, the House on Edwin St. has become a focal point for musicians migrating into and out of Nashville. A lot of rehearsals, practices, couch-surfing, house shows/parties, relationships, and an exceptional amount of talent has filled and aged the walls. I hope I've caught some iota of that with these sessions. Some amount of feeling of practicing before a gig. Getting your boots on and leaving what doesn't fit in your pockets behind somewhere, and not knowing if you'll find it later. Leo Crafft plays in this space, a room at the legendary Edwin House — "legendary" at least to those familiar with said walls, stories, and cobwebs. I know we've become familiar. Lyrics: As I labor through the day I would dream of your face resting on my chest Through the toil and through the strain how much sorrow can one man take weighing on the heart How the rocks fell from beneath us broke into a million pieces you pulled me from the sand Between folds and under creases behind the gospel that did deceive us that love don’t cost a damn So I lay you down where the wild flowers grow I won’t take me another lover for some time Wading through the water you crossed the other side The memories that we soldered I preserve in a brine Take a breath I’ll take a stance above the earth before this land there’s a beauty where it hurts Keep the fire stoked with a branch from the old growth where we would dance now I worship the dirt Somewhere deep within the soul amongst grief and getting old my wrinkles start to show Sometimes habits they take a hold and we walk that dusty road well most of us feel alone So I lay you down where the wild flowers grow I won’t take me another lover for some time Wading through the water you crossed the other side The memories that we soldered I preserve in a brine Written & Performed by Leo Crafft Featuring Loretta-Lynn Created & Directed by Ryan M.
