Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote Control Review

Review: 5/5 The Best Remote Ever Made (vs. 900?) (only 2 imperfections). I absolutely love this remote. The molded grip, buttons with context to feel without looking, good feel to buttons & as you press, very fast and responsive, starts / stops / simultaneously talks to all devices involved in an activity as one remote to replace them all, every button is configurable to anything you want of any device, configurable soft menu buttons and activities for anything you want, and so much more. I have owned both the Harmony One and [[ASIN:B002IC0YL8 900]] for over 2 years and love them both, but this one still rules in perfection, just without 2 features of the 900 which brings its own set of imperfections. After 2 years, I still think of this remote as perfections, minus 2 features. (1) It doesn't have the 4 physical color buttons of modern DVRs which do appear on the [[ASIN:B002IC0YL8 Harmony 900]], but you can program soft buttons for them which have built-in icons shown in my video. Honestly, I never used the 4 color buttons for their actual purpose on the 900, but instead just liked that I had 4 more physical buttons to program for something else instead of soft buttons on the touchscreen. On the 900, I prefer to use 2 buttons to toggle between my TV screen ratios for widescreen vs. 4:3. On the One I have to make them soft buttons which makes me look at the LCD screen. (2) It is only IR (although perfect, powerful, fast IR) compared to the RF on the 900. But the 900's RF is less than perfect. The 900 is a tad slower than the One. I've "raced" my One and 900 on the same Tivo and the One is slightly more responsive even with the 900 in IR mode. I cannot recommend this enough. If I had to buy it all over again, I would in an instant. About my 900, I am torn whether I would go back to another Harmony One for the faster use or a 900. Right now I have one of each for different TV centers. Each have their advantages. The One never gave me any grief whatsoever. The One's battery seems to last longer too.
