Less than 30 percent of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) professionals are women. With this inequality still evident in the 21st century, the need for diversity, equity, and inclusion of women in STEM is important. Bridging the inequality gap is one of the goals the International Telecommunication Union seeks to achieve on a day such as the #InternationalGirlsInICTDay. The day, celebrated on April 28 across the world aims to cultivate the presence and digital skills of young women and girls in the career field of STEM, particularly ICT.
