Reyer roared to a fourth-place finish in Group A with an 11-7 record by winning seven of its last eight regular-season games, including impressive victories over Cedevita Olimpija, Manresa and Jerusalem in the last three. But Trento also finished strong to take fifth place in Group B, also with an 11-7 balance, after going 9-2 in the second half of the regular season. The hosts are the competition’s fourth-best rebounding unit, averaging 37.8 boards per night partly thanks to the presence of Chris Horton (7.3 rebounds per game). But Trento also has plenty of power in the paint with Andrey Jakimovski and Selom Mawugbe, who will try to maintain their inside efficiency against a Reyer interior defense which ranks first in the EuroCup with just 49.8% of two-pointers allowed. Trento’s key man, though, is backcourt star DeVante' Jones, who leads the competition in PIR after outstanding averages of 18.3 points and 4.6 assists per game, ably supported by the equally dangerous DJ Steward. Slowing them down will be a task for home guards RJ Cole and Ky Bowman, who will also hope to create good looks on the perimeter for dangerous three-point shooters Kyle Wiltjer and Carl Wheatle. Reyer has been outstanding at home this season, only losing once, but the visitors will have no fear after winning five road games in the regular season.
