The contractor for this job needed an AquaDam to isolate an area along shore, to permit installation of a new water intake structure along the Stanislaus River. The main challenge on this project was the riprap and other boulder-type rocks present at the bottom of the river. Contractor had a diver on site to remove rocks. Still, seepage beneath the AquaDam was significant. Later, the contractor purchased a large sealing skirt to improve the seal, which it did. This cofferdam was made with a 16ft tall, 320ft long Double Closed AquaDam. The start of this dam was started from the side of a 10ft tall, 100ft long AquaDam on the downstream side of the work area. To improve the achievable seal, a 30" tall, 300ft long dam was installed beneath the 16ft dam, and filled a little bit, last. This seemed to work OK. All dams were installed in 4 days, plus 1 day of prep time.
