Aprelevsky Zavod 5951 "Polyushko-pole", composed by Lev Knipper in 1933, was the first of several Soviet songs that gained popularity not only in the USSR, but also in the West, where it was adapted under different titles like "Meadowlands", "Cossack Patrol", "Cavalry of the Steppes" or "Fields, My Fields". But already in the Soviet Union the catchy song was recorded many times over the years. This beautifully dynamic rendition by the Alexandrov Ensemble from 1937 is, as far as I see, the second recording of the song in the USSR - the first recording had been made in 1934 by the composer himself conducting the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra and can be found here:    • „Stepnaya kavaleriiskaya“ (Степная кавалер...   Enjoy!
