This is the Second Episode (Full) of the channel – “The Journey of Life” with Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe. Professor Sahasrabudhe has been an institution builder with a strong commitment to teaching and nation-building. He has done his Bachelors's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Gold Medal from Karnataka University securing the first rank to university in all ten semesters and Masters and Ph.D. degrees with distinction from the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore. Sahasrabudhe joined one of the oldest colleges in India, College of Engineering Pune as Director of the deputation from IIT Guwahati from 2006 to 2015. In the nine years, the college was totally turned around which has been a unique example showcased by world bank funded TEQIP project, as an excellent model of governance. Given this track record in three prominent institutes in the country, he has been chosen to lead the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as its chairman and he has joined the AICTE in July 2015. During the short stint at AICTE so far he has already introduced several reforms to make AICTE a vibrant organization and not just a regulator for technical education but as a facilitator to improve the quality of technical education in the country. The world’s largest Hackathon, Mentorship scheme for helping technical institutes, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, AICTE’s startup policy to promote innovation and entrepreneurship culture in India, developing India’s indigenous MOOCs platform SWAYAM are some of the new initiatives launched under his leadership. Sahasrabudhe is a recipient of the Praj Intrapreneur Award, MIT World Peace University’s Life Time Achievement Award, and is chairman of the Basic Scientific Research Committee of UGC.
