This ritual is intended to gain spiritual power, increase one's connection with the Holy Ones, receive wisdom from them, and extend blessings to the world as a whole. It does this through the exchange of offerings and blessings. It's written roughly in the style of the druidic group Ár nDraíocht Féin (www.adf.org), which draws its inspiration not just from the Celts, but from all of the ancient Indo-European peoples. The centerpiece of the ritual is the blessing and consumption of the Waters of Life. There are the reflections here of such ancient drinks as the Irish ale of sovereignty, the Norse mead of inspiration, the Greek Nekter, the Iranian hom, and the Vedic soma. It is through them that the blessings of the Holy Ones can be conveyed in a physical form. The idea for writing the ritual in the first place came from the solitary ritual of Ian Corrigain's Solitary Druid Liturgy ( • Solo Druid Ritual ). The ritual itself was inspired largely by the Japanese Tea Ceremony (http://japanese-tea-ceremony.net/) and the Zoroastrian yasna ritual (http://avesta.org/ritual/rcc4.htm#cha.... I like both for the importance of aesthetics, and the yasna in particular for its intricacy.
