As well as his own compositions, Tim Knight publishes music by other composers. This is a the first in a set of three pieces for manuals only, all of which can be played on one manual instruments such that they can be played on all organs. Music for manuals only can sometimes feel to be lacking, but these three pieces are all fine additions to the repertoire, with or without the use of pedals! This recording was made on a Johannus Live III AGO organ, using the sample of the fine Hill organ in the church of the Holy Name, opposite the University of Manchester on Oxford Road, Manchester. The sample sets can be heard from four positions: console, front of the church, centre of the church, rear of the church. This recording uses the rear of the church position. Most recordings of the Johannus LiVE on this channel feature sound taken directly from the line-out socket. For reasons of technical failure, this doesn't, thereby providing an opportunity to hear the quality of the speakers as well as of the samples.
