Our New Makers presents brand new music and a poetry collection, together with her Ensamble Grand and organist Kit Downes. Fuensanta vocals/double bass, Līva Dumpe vocals, Marta Arpini vocals, Sanem Kalfa vocals, Laura Polence vocals, José Soares alto saxophone, Alistair Payne trumpet, Kit Downes organ, Sun-Mi Hong drums, Guy Salomon drums. Our New Maker Fuensanta concludes her residency at BIMHUIS Productions with a special concert. She has written a new program entitled Trenodia, which translates to ‘a poem of lamentation’. She has written new music as well as poetry that can be described as a “ceremony for grief, femininity, tragedy, pain and mysticism.” In writing this new work, Fuensanta was inspired by a wide range of composers of electronic and contemporary (classical) music such as Arvo Pärt, Björk & Rosalía. The creative jack-of-all-trades will be joined on stage by her exuberant Ensamble Grande, including vocalist Sanem Kalfa, drummer Sun-Mi Hong and trumpeter Alistair Payne. Added especially for this concert is organist Kit Downes. Fuensanta is a singer, double bass player and composer – born in Veracruz, Mexico and based in Amsterdam. Like no other she interweaves atmospheric playing with poetry and folklore into new forms. Vocals, bass and poetry proved to be a golden combination for her during her musical development. She recently released her latest EP Principio del Fuego on the record label founded by bassist Michael League, GroundUP Music.
