New bodycam footage shows her screaming & crying for help during a dramatic arrest that resulted in the officer getting fired. On Sept 19, 2019, 1st grader Kaia Rolle was arrested after reportedly kicking & punching 3 employees during a tantrum at school. Rolle was taken to a local juvenile center, she was initially charged with misdemeanor battery, although prosecutors dropped the charge the next day. The school’s resource officer, Dennis Turner, was supposed to get supervisor approval for an arrest of anyone under the age of 12 years old. But he reportedly did not get approval for Kaia’s arrest or the attempted arrest of another 6-year-old boy on the same day. Dennis Turner was fired shortly after the incident. Footage of the incident was released by an attorney for Rolle’s family. It shows Turner seeming to boast to school staff about his record of arresting young people during his career. During his 23 years with Orlando PD, Turner was reportedly disciplined 7 different times for various violations. Turner was working as a school resource officer because he had retired from OPD. Currently, the state of Florida does not have an age minimum for arrest.
