More practice with the ultra-wide Fujinon NSW 125mm f8 lens on a Toyo Field 810M. This time, using for tilt for focus control. What could go wrong: Watch and find out! Actually this is one of the infrequent occasions where expectations were exceeded. The Fujinon NSW 125mm f8 barely covers 8x10 (technically it doesn't cover but comes close) and I expected that tilting the lens would cause even more vignetting. It tend out I was wrong! During development I lost track of which sheet was which exposure but didn't worry because I knew the vignetted one was from the tilt: I expected it to have better focus but more vignetting. However when I looked at them closely under a loupe the vignetted one had worse focus. So I went through the video looking at clouds in the sky, comparing them with those on the negatives to identify which was which. That was late last night and I didn't mint to upload the video without being sure it was correct. So this morning I got up early (for me) and went back to Thompson Street Jetty to re-take the photographs. The tide had moved the boat and was higher so everything was different, so I took a different composition that used the same front-tilt movement. Raced back home, developed the new negatives (keeping track of which was which) and yep, the un-tilted exposure has more vignetting. (Clearly my rise-and-fall alignment isn't correct but that's another issue.) The video of those images will be out in a few days.
