Combat Awareness in Doom

This is everything in combat. Keeping track of as much stuff as you can gives you an advantage over those enemies that are trying to sneak up on you and can be especially helpful in large arenas where lots of stuff is going on. Sound cues are harder to make examples out of, but keep it in mind because knowing if something is behind, to the right, or to the left of you could save your life. Of course, it is overwhelming. When you are nervous and there are a bunch of projectiles flying around, infighting situations, crazy level geometry, and more, it is very easy to miss something. The goal is to be aware of just a little bit more each day as you improve. I still miss things that are going on and get hit by stuff that I reasonably could've avoided, but it is ok. Next time you watch another player, see if you can spot dangers as shown in this video. I always see things like infighting rockets and hope that the person saw it too.
