Afghanistan Humanitarian Crisis: A Ticking Time Bomb | Unbreak the News with Prema Sridevi - Ep 30 Ever since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, the war-torn nation has been in the thick of a humanitarian crisis. A report recently released by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, which is the US government’s leading oversight authority on Afghanistan reconstruction, has said that half of Afghanistan’s population is facing a tsunami of hunger. Both the World Health Organisation (WHO) and World Food Programme (WFP) have estimated that 3.2 million Afghan children under the age of five will suffer from acute malnutrition this winter, with one million at the risk of dying. The international community freezing assets and stopping aid to Afghanistan has compounded its problems. The United Nations had recently said that it needed 4.4 billion dollars in aid for Afghanistan in 2022 to avert a “humanitarian catastrophe”. What must be done to better the living conditions of Afghan nationals? Prema Sridevi unbreaks this story for you. #Afghanistan #Hunger #HumanitarianCrisis #Afghanistan #Hunger #AfghanistanHumanitarianCrisis #Afghan #food #worldfoodprogramme #TalibanTakeover #Taliban #Crisis #foodcrisis #humanitarians #theprobe #theprobeindia, #premasridevi ABOUT THE PROBE The Probe is an independent news media platform.
